It's a Tragedy and I can not find any reason or purpose (none that makes me feel any better at least) to why a child should have to die. The feeling of Pain which is left behind is Immense.
Ricky leaves me with so many Beautiful Memories. During his short time with me, he proved to be so Much More than just a Special little boy. The Happy and Positive attitude which Ricky displayed, the Joy he shared with his sister Laura, and his Lovely sense of Humour makes him a part of me for Much Longer than Forever!!!
RICKY, YOU'LL BE FOREVER YOUNG!
FOREVER YOUNG YOU'LL ALWAYS BE
TUCKED DEEP INSIDE MY MEMORY
THOUGH THE FLOODS OF TIME MAY RACE
I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR FACE
WHILST I WILL GROW OLD AND GREY
FOREVER YOUNG YOU'LL ALWAYS STAY
When the medical profession expected Ricky's Last Night to have arrived for the first time, he woke up during a procedure in hospital and turned to the nurse and asked - "Do you have Galaxy ('cable tv') here?"
Later during that same stay in hospital, when again his Final Moments were believed to be very near, Ricky woke up in the middle of the night and Climbed over the side of the bed and went to ask the nurses at the station for some assistance with a toilet visit!!!
In the middle of all his suffering, when he was Immobile due to Pain and Cancer disease, I once asked Ricky if he did not feel like giving up (his fight); he looked at me with his Young Brave face and said - "Yeah Dad, I feel like Getting Up!!" Such was the Heroic life of my Ricky!!!!!
LIFE IS NOT MUCH FUN WITHOUT YOU
MEMORIES OF YOUR FIGHTING SPIRIT WILL HELP ME TO
FIND A WAY TO HONOUR YOU MY SON
I KNOW THAT'S WHAT YOU WOULD HAVE DONE
YOU'LL LIVE ON THRU' YOUR SISTER WHILE YOU'RE RESTING IN THE BLUE
I MISS YOU SO AND I AM VERY SAD
MUCH LONGER THAN FOREVER, LOVE FROM DAD
THE PAIN IN MY HEART WILL REMAIN FOR QUITE A WHILE
AND WITH YESTERDAY GONE, HOPEFULLY SOON AGAIN I'LL SMILE.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
IN THE RISING OF THE SUN AND IN IT'S GOING DOWN
- WE'LL REMEMBER RICKY!
IN THE BLOWING OF THE WIND AND IN THE CHILL OF WINTER
- WE'LL REMEMBER RICKY!
IN THE OPENING OF BUDS AND IN THE REBIRTH OF SPRING
- WE'LL REMEMBER RICKY!
IN THE BLUENESS OF THE SKY AND IN THE WARMTH OF SUMMER
- WE'LL REMEMBER RICKY!
IN THE RUSTLING OF LEAVES AND IN THE BEAUTY OF AUTUMN
- WE'LL REMEMBER RICKY!
IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR AND WHEN IT ENDS
- WE'LL REMEMBER RICKY!
AS LONG AS WE LIVE, RICKY TOO WILL LIVE!!
GOD HAS TAKEN HIM AWAY
FOR WHAT REASON I CAN NOT SAY
BUT NOW IN GOD'S GARDEN
RICKY WILL PEACEFULLY PLAY
THE MYSTERY OF LIFE SO SACRED AND SWEET
THE GIVER OF JOY SO DEEP AND COMPLETE
PRECIOUS AND PRICELESS, SO LOVABLE TOO
THE WORLD'S SWEETEST MIRACLE, RICKY IS YOU
Ricky's Message To All Of Us:
Death should not have to mean the end, dying is only slipping in to another dimension. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort, without the ghost of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant; it is the same that it ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Don't let me be out of mind just because i am out of sight. I am watching over you from very near. Loving you always...Ricky.
